Celebration of Jordan’s Centenary Memorandum of Understanding Signed Between Bank of Jordan and The Public Security Directorate

(Amman - April 2021) In celebration of Jordan’s Centenary, and in line with Bank of Jordan's strategy to foster joint cooperation with public sector institutions with the aim to improve the services provided to citizens within an initiative that is the first of its kind in Jordan, Bank of Jordan and the Public Security Directorate signed a memorandum of understanding that aims to support a series of smart security centers and stations that the Directorate is working to establish as part of its security centers development plan in Jordan, in addition to supporting the ideas of the PSD Innovation Hub. The memorandum was signed by Mr. Saleh Rajab Hammad, CEO of Bank of Jordan, and the Brigadier-General Dr. Mutassem Abu Shattal, the Assistant Director of Public Security for Administration and Logistical Support.

Under this memorandum, the two parties agreed to cooperate to establish and equip a series of smart security centers and stations that provide police services in a self-service manner, allowing citizens to apply for police services such as those provided in traditional security centers without the need for human interaction, but rather in a self-service manner that is based on artificial intelligence technology.

Mr. Saleh Hammad, CEO of Bank of Jordan, expressed his pride in this active partnership between Bank of Jordan and the Public Security Directorate, which comes in celebration of Jordan’s centenary. He also stated that the Bank adopts a comprehensive social responsibility strategy that reflects the Bank’s keenness to enhance its economic and social impact by working closely with various relevant authorities to achieve sustainable development, noting that this partnership with the Public Security Directorate is a result of the Bank’s commitment to its social responsibility.

Hammad also stressed that the Bank’s partnership with the Public Security Directorate through the PSD Innovation Hub will unite the efforts devoted to supporting innovative ideas and initiatives, adding that bringing their efforts together to support the expansion plan and establish a series of smart security services centers will contribute to enhancing the Bank's approach in participating in this creative and development project. He also praised the great efforts made by the Public Security Directorate in terms of security, police and social services.

For his part, the Assistant Director of Public Security for Administration and Logistical Support, Brigadier-General Motassem Abu Shattal, confirmed that this agreement will embrace ways of cooperation with regard to the development plans related to the professional and practical course of services provided by the Public Security Directorate through the establishment of a smart security services center that provides police services to citizens in a self-service manner without human interaction, in addition to implementing youth programs and ideas of common interest through the operational plan of the PSD Innovation Hub.

Brigadier-General Abu Shattal added that the PSD Innovation Hub has succeeded in achieving effective partnership with various departments and internal security units in addition to a large segment of institutions and bodies in society, with the aim to raise awareness among various groups about the responsible role in supporting initiatives and creative ideas to reflect on the development of services, in addition to nurturing a thought-provoking environment for the development of creative thinking and institutional development.

It is worth mentioning that Bank of Jordan has managed throughout its journey, which exceeded six decades, to effectively contribute to economic and social growth and to support many sustainable national programs and initiatives as part of its social responsibility strategy.

Signing this memorandum comes in line with the Royal directives that stress the need for cooperation and coordination among the state institutions and the private sector, in a way that puts the public interest first and enables those institutions to carry out their responsibilities in the best way. This memorandum also embodies the close relationship between Bank of Jordan and the Public Security Directorate.
